Autism Spectrum Rating Scales (ASRS)

Effectively identifies symptoms, behaviours and associated features of Autism Spectrum Disorders in children and adolescents.

The Autism Spectrum Rating Scales (ASRS) is designed to identify symptoms, behaviours, and associated features of the full range of Autism Spectrum Disorders. The ASRS has been updated to provide a new scoring option for DSM-5™ Symptom Scales. Using a five-point Likert rating scale, parents and teachers are asked to evaluate how often they observespecific behaviours in the child or adolescent in areas such as socialisation, communication, unusual behaviours, behavioural rigidity, sensory sensitivity, and self-regulation.

AREAS OF APPLICATION

The ASRS provides valuable information in the following settings:

  • Assisting psychologists in the diagnostic process.

  • Helping to guide diagnostic decisions, treatment planning, and on-going monitoring of response to intervention, especially when used in combination with other assessment information.

  • Evaluating the effectiveness of a treatment program for a child with an ASD.


REPORT OPTIONS

The ASRS has the following software reportsavailable:

  • Interpretive Report:provides detailed results from one administration,

  • Comparative Report:provides a multi-rater perspective by combining results from up to five different raters.

  • Progress Monitoring Report:provides an overview of change over time by combining results of upto four administrations from thesame rater.


SOUTH AFRICAN RESEARCH

Although South African research and norms are not yet available for the ASRS, JVR Psychometrics welcomes the opportunity to partner with clients in conducting research studies in their organisations.
