(via Hogan Assessment Systems) Peter Berry Consultancy (PBC) and Hogan Assessment Systems are collaborating on a longitudinal research study into graduate selection and development in Australia. This study includes the assessment of graduates from various industries and has been underway for 18 months. From this research, we seek to identify:
- Common personality profiles and values of graduates between industries and job type
- Challenges that are typical when starting their graduate program
- Profiles and values of graduates who stay with the organisation after the cessation of their graduate program
- What core competencies best predict graduate success
As part of the final phase of research, PBC and Hogan would like to obtain some global information about international graduate selection methods, and the challenges faced by graduate recruiters and organizations. In particular, we are interested in identifying characteristics organizations seek in graduates and factors that contribute to long term tenure within those organizations. To help us with this research, we are requesting the assistance of Hogan’s clients and global network to complete a brief survey. The survey will only take five minutes to complete, and will provide feedback on graduate selection, development industry trends, and comparisons between countries and industries. Peter Berry Consultancy and Hogan will be producing a white paper on the overall research findings, and PBC will be presenting survey results at the Australian Association of Graduate Employers (AAGE) Conference in November. Results will be distributed to participating organizations after the conference. We are aware that different countries will use different terminology for this role, for example, “graduates” in Australia would be considered college recruits in the US. To ensure consistency in the survey we have defined “graduate” as a university or technical college educated student who has completed a degree/diploma and is entering the workforce in his/her first major degree-related job.
