Career counselling for the new world of work
COURSE DESCRIPTION
In this online course, we will provide a brief overview of the role of career counselling theories throughout the 20th century. We then discuss the influence 4IR has on people's careers and suggest the use of new theories appropriate to the world we live in now. Finally, we offer a practical example of a narrative instrument, the Career Interest Profile (CIP), developed by Prof. Kobus Maree, which can be used to help clients narrate their career stories and choose ‘appropriate’ careers. This practical demonstration includes a focus on the initial interview and administration of the CIP, as well as the initial, follow-up, and sessions with two clients.
